Great Basin College Recognizes Constitution...

Great Basin College joins colleges, universities and communities across the country in recognizing Constitution Day on Sept. 17.

Constitution Day commemorates the signing of the United States Constitution on Sept. 17, 1787, and provides an opportunity to learn more about the document that established the framework of the federal government and continues to shape American civic life.

This year, GBC is pleased to share a special Constitution Day video message from U.S. Senator Catherine Cortez Masto of Nevada.

In her message, Senator Cortez Masto focused on the first three words of the Constitution, “We the People,” emphasizing that our government was created by and for the American people and that each of us has a voice in choosing who represents us and makes our laws. She encouraged everyone to understand how our government functions, make their voices heard, work together to create a better future for our country, and take part in the democratic process by registering to vote and participating in elections.

GBC thanks Senator Cortez Masto for sharing this message with our students, faculty, staff and communities as we recognize Constitution Day and the importance of civic education.
